Apple just released its next-generation operating system for Macs, OS X 10.11 El Capitan, to the public.

If you haven’t been using a developer or public beta version over the last few months, here’s how to upgrade from Yosemite to El Capitan: First, make sure you can. El Capitan supports the follow Macs running OS X Snow Leopard and on:

Thankfully, OS X 10.11.4 brings a little more than that to the table by actually introducing a couple of outward changes that the user can directly interact with. Is your Mac on that list? Then head on over to the Mac App Store and click on Updates. El Capitan will show up as a software update. You can also click on this link to go directly to the El Capitan download.
